DEVOTION unfolds as a meditation and a waking dream: the expression of the confrontation between territory, Yoshino and its living nature, and an artist of African descent deeply informed by magical realism. Roy situates this body of work within what he describes as an ongoing “eco-poetic” process, with “eco” referring to ecology. This perspective understands the world as a multidimensional space inhabited by visible and otherworldly presences alike. In this context, photography becomes a means of engaging with the living environment and acknowledging its spiritual dimension.
