Hana Ward’s first solo show in Asia, “When the Moon Stopped Keeping Time,” delves into the ebb and flow of existence, the interplay of light and shadow, and the potential of introspection. Rooted in her quarter-Japanese heritage and a month-long immersion in Japan, Ward’s artwork creates a suspended, contemplative atmosphere where time appears to stand still.
Her compositions touch on identity, transformation, and the connection between lived experiences and ancestral wisdom. The exhibition, running from October 26th to 31st, 2023, transcends borders and encourages viewers to explore these themes inviting us to pause, reflect, and explore the depths of our own souls through her art.
The exhibition, presented by Roche Projects, coincides with the prominent art fair in Kyoto, Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK), emphasizing the synergy between Japanese and international galleries, government, and cultural sectors.
